India's Tech Revolution: CG Semi's Groundbreaking 'Made in India' Chip Launch

India is on the cusp of a significant technological leap with the impending launch of its first 'Made in India' semiconductor chip, a landmark achievement spearheaded by CG Semi. Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced this development at the inauguration of CG Semi's outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) pilot facility in Sanand, Gujarat, on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

The Sanand facility, specifically its G1 pilot line, is poised to commence production of these in-house semiconductor chips imminently. Minister Vaishnaw revealed that this pilot line is designed to produce 0.5 million, or 5 lakh, 'Made-in-India' chips per day. He underscored the critical role of this pilot line in qualifying chips for customer approval, thereby paving the way for their eventual commercial production.
