Humble farewell: Grief as beloved Baringo pastor is buried hours after his death

The AIC Eldama Ravine Town Church community in Baringo county is mourning the death of their beloved pastor, Reverend Roy Stover.

Stover passed away on the morning of Sunday, July 6, and was buried just hours later in a simple and emotional ceremony.

He was laid to rest at his home in Moringwo village, Lembus Kwen, in Baringo.

His quick burial left many talking, as they mourned and remembered him for his great service to the community and humble nature.

Images from his funeral emerged online, showing just how simple the pastor was.

A handful of mourners sat in his compound in the open air as they listened to the funeral service. The closed coffin was placed at the centre, also near the gravesite.

After a sermon, the family, friends, and congregants present moved to the gravesite, where the revered pastor was laid to rest.

According to reports, the AIC Eldama Ravine Town Church pastor had been unwell for a while before he passed away.

The 80-year-old man of God was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He dedicated his life to the ministry of Christ, education, and mentorship.

He later moved to Kenya as a missionary and settled in Baringo.

While leading the AIC Eldama Ravine Town Church, membership grew to more than 1,500 people, grounded in spirituality.

He was the founder of Elma Barnett Children’s Centre and Elma Kamonong High School.

In other news, e reported that police in Migori county had launched investigations following the death and swift burial of a General Service Unit (GSU) officer, Constable Dan Ayoo Abura.

Dan was buried within the St. Joseph Missions of Messiah in Africa Church compound, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.

The GSU officer had reportedly been unwell and was on his way to the church for prayers before he was later reported dead and subsequently buried.
