Horror in Limpopo: Teen Arrested After Gruesome Discovery of Decapitated Girl

A shocking incident in Pharare village, Limpopo, has led to the arrest of a teenage boy in connection with the brutal murder of a 16-year-old girl. The victim was discovered decapitated, with the incident reportedly taking place on Friday, 1 May 2026, around 18:00. This swift development in the case highlights the intensive efforts of the South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo.
According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, a SAPS spokesperson in Limpopo, police promptly responded to a report of a female body found in a bush area. Upon arrival, a 17-year-old male directed officers to a nearby bush where the naked, decapitated body of the victim was located. This male, who later became the primary suspect, initially presented a fabricated account of the events.
The suspect initially claimed that he and the victim were walking in Pharare village when they were allegedly accosted by masked occupants of a blue VW Polo. He further alleged that this group, described as two men and two women armed with firearms, forced them into the vehicle at gunpoint. They were then supposedly driven to a bushy area where the suspect claimed he sustained knife wounds to his arm and abdomen before managing to escape. However, this narrative quickly unraveled.
During a thorough search of the crime scene, police made a crucial discovery: the victim’s head, which had been buried near her body. This finding, alongside other evidence, prompted an intensive investigation by members of the Limpopo Murder and Robbery Unit, the Mopani Tracking Team, and Maake Detectives. Their efforts culminated in the arrest of the 17-year-old male suspect at a local hospital on Saturday, 2 May 2026, where he had been admitted. Limpopo police subsequently linked him to the murder and confiscated a weapon believed to have been used in the commission of the heinous crime.
