Horror in Bolton: Police Launch Manhunt After Woman Found Dead in Flat

Police in Bolton have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a woman’s body at a flat in Kempton Gardens. Officers and paramedics were called to the property, near Halliwell Road, at around 10am on Monday, January 19, after reports raised concerns about the welfare of a woman.

Despite immediate attempts by paramedics, including CPR at the scene, the victim sadly died shortly afterward. Her identity has not yet been released, and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) stated that their primary focus is to identify the woman and inform her next of kin.

Arrest and Forensic Investigation Underway

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody, where he is being questioned by detectives. GMP established a significant cordon around the scene, blocking off a walkway in Kempton Gardens. Forensic teams carried out detailed investigations at the flat and surrounding areas throughout the day.

Photographs from the scene showed multiple Crime Scene Investigation (CSI)vans, with officers in white suits meticulously collecting evidence. A police officer was stationed at a ground-floor entrance to secure the building, highlighting the thorough nature of the investigation.

Police Appeal to the Public

Detective Inspector Louise Kelly, from GMP’s Major Incident Team, emphasized the ongoing priorities: “Our priority at this time is identifying the female and informing her family as soon as we are able. Specialist officers will be available to support them throughout this investigation.”

She added: “A murder investigation has been launched and whilst we currently have a man in custody, there is a police cordon in place, and we are conducting enquiries to establish the circumstances which have led to this tragic incident. We understand that an incident of this nature may cause concern within the community; however, we believe there is no wider risk to the public.”

GMP is urging anyone with information to come forward by calling 101 or using the LiveChat service at gmp.police.uk, quoting log 863 of 19/01/26. Information can also be submitted anonymously through Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.
