According to the police report, the 20-year-old Sheryl, who was expectant, was reportedly killed by her boyfriend, a student at the same learning institution.

Sheryl, who was pursuing a land surveyor course, also lost her unborn child after the suspect stabbed her in the abdomen using a kitchen knife.

Rachuonyo North Police Commander Lydia Parteyie confirmed the incident, saying detectives are tracing the suspect who is still at large

Preliminary investigations indicate the female student was at her hostel until Friday, January 31, when her boyfriend visited her.

The two are said to have spent the entire night together and no one suspected that something wrong could have happened but some commotion was heard in a room where they were on Saturday, February 1, at 5 am.

The student was rushed to the Kendu Adventist Hospital with a wound on her abdomen where she succumbed and at the hospital, medical officers discovered that the deceased was expectant.

Sheryl's father, John Odongo, was called by her roommate, who informed him that her daughter had been admitted to the hospital where she succumbed to injuries.

The family said justice should be accorded to their daughter by arresting the suspect.

Still in Homa Bay county, a church elder died after being stabbed by a fellow elder during a church service.

Francis Opiyo was an elder at the Ebeneza SDA church at Ramoya village, Samba sub-location in Suba South constituency.

According to Citizen Digital, the 35-year-old was attacked over a suspected love triangle on Saturday, February 1.

Preliminary reports indicated that Opiyo had just read church reports to worshippers before the main service when another elder attacked him.

Suba South Sub County Police commander Caxton Ndunda said Opiyo was handing over the service to another elder before the main preacher takes over.

However, the suspect, also an elder in the same church, removed a knife hidden in his Bible and stabbed Opiyo in the chest.

Police said the suspect accused Opiyo of having extramarital relations with his wife, a church member.

The suspect fled the scene before surrendering himself to the area assistant chief.
