Hollywood Mourns: Iconic Star Diane Keaton's Cause of Death Revealed

Legendary actress Diane Keaton has reportedly passed away at the age of 78, with her family allegedly revealing that her cause of death was pneumonia. She is said to have died on Saturday, October 11, in Los Angeles, after paramedics transported her from her home to a hospital where she later succumbed to her illness. A close friend reportedly indicated that her health had “declined very suddenly” in recent months, a detail her immediate family chose to keep private.
The Keaton family is reported to have released a statement to People magazine expressing their gratitude for the overwhelming messages of support. “The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support … on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11,” the statement allegedly read. In place of flowers, the family suggested that fans make donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter, reflecting her lifelong commitment to those causes.
Since news of her passing circulated, tributes have poured in from co-stars, friends, and fans around the world. Diane Keaton was an Oscar-winning actress, celebrated for her performances in a broad and influential filmography. Beyond her acting, she was known as a passionate architectural preservationist and devoted animal lover. To honor her legacy, AMC Theatres announced plans to rerelease two of her signature films, Annie Hall and Something’s Gotta Give ,for limited one-week runs starting on Friday.
Keaton’s illustrious career was marked by many honors, including an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Woody Allen’s Annie Hall (1977). She also earned nominations for Reds, Something’s Gotta Give, and Marvin’s Room, reinforcing her place as one of Hollywood’s most respected and beloved talents.
