Hollywood Heroine: Amy Adams Uses Canceled TV Show Tips to Save Stabbing Victim!

Actress Amy Adams recently recounted a harrowing incident where she used skills acquired from a short-lived medical drama to save a stabbing victim's life. During an appearance on the “Smartless” podcast, Adams detailed how she and her family became the first responders to a violent crime scene while leaving their favorite Santa Monica restaurant.

Adams recalled that as they exited the establishment, they encountered a chaotic scene with people screaming and a man bleeding profusely. Her husband, Darren Le Gallo, quickly pointed out the presence of blood, realizing the severity of the situation. The victim had been stabbed in the neck, and his friends were in a state of panic.

While her husband stayed with their daughter, Adams and her father rushed forward to offer assistance. In that high-pressure moment, Adams described feeling incredibly focused. Drawing upon her experience playing registered nurse Alice Doherty in the 2004 CBS medical drama “Dr. Vegas,” she instinctively knew how to respond. She used beach towels to apply crucial pressure to the wound, aiming to stem the flow of blood.

Adams also provided vital calming advice to the victim, telling him, “The more you struggle, the faster you’re going to bleed. Just lay down.” This exact piece of advice was something she had learned and practiced during her role on “Dr. Vegas.” The show, which only ran for five episodes, starred Rob Lowe as Dr. Billy Grant, a young physician working in a Las Vegas resort and casino, alongside other cast members including Sarah Lancaster, Lisa Gabriel, Joe Pantoliano, Tom Sizemore, and Adam Clark.

Remarkably, a year after the life-saving incident, Adams had an unexpected encounter with the victim. She recounted meeting him again at a restaurant, where he approached her and inquired if she and her dad had been present at a stabbing incident. Adams recognized him, confirming the powerful and unlikely reunion between the rescuer and the rescued.
