Holland - Matt-Haarms-agreed-terms-with-Orange-Vikings

Ehime Orange Vikings (B2 League) signed 28-year-old Dutch international 221cm center Matt Haarms (college: BYU) for the upcoming season. He last played for Kagoshima. In 58 B2 League games in Japan, he posted impressive stats: 16.9ppg, 8.2rpg, 1.3apg, and 2.1bpg last season. He helped them finish the regular season as the second-best team in the league. Haarms had a good season, earning League Player of the Week honors four times and being selected to the Asia-Basket.com All-Japanese B2 League Third Team. In the previous (2023-24) season, he played for Zunder Palencia (Liga Endesa) in the Spanish league.
Haarms has been a member of the Dutch international program for several years. He has played for the Dutch senior team since 2021 and previously for the Under 18 National Team in 2015.
Haarms also represented Holland at the FIBA World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers two years ago. During this event, he scored an average of 3.1 ppg and had 1.7 rpg.
He has played previously professionally in Germany (Skyliners) and Spain.
Haarms played in the final of the WCC Tournament in 2021. He was also voted the All-WCC Defensive Player of the Year in 2021.
He graduated from Brigham Young University in 2021, and it will be his fifth season in pro basketball. Haarms played for Purdue University for 3 years as well.
