Historic Verdict: Air France, Airbus Guilty in Deadly 2009 Rio-Paris Crash

A French appeals court has convicted Air France and Airbus of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the catastrophic 2009 crash of flight AF447, which traveled from Rio de Janeiro to Paris. The disaster, which claimed the lives of all 228 people on board, stands as France's worst aviation tragedy and marked a dramatic reversal of a previous lower court decision that had acquitted both companies in 2023.
