Hilda Baci's Jaw-Dropping Jollof Rice World Record Explored!

Renowned Nigerian chef and culinary influencer, Hilda Baci, has officially secured another Guinness World Record, this time for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian jollof rice ever. In an impressive collaboration with Gino Nigeria, Baci masterfully cooked a staggering 8,780 kilograms of the beloved staple. This monumental feat took place on September 12, 2025, during the vibrant Gino World Jollof Festival, hosted at the prestigious Eko Hotels & Suites in Lagos, Nigeria.
The record-breaking event was a grand spectacle, drawing massive crowds eager to witness history in the making. The festival atmosphere was further enlivened by engaging performances and appearances from various celebrities, transforming the cooking attempt into a significant cultural celebration. Beyond the culinary achievement, the event underscored a profound aspect of the Nigerian spirit: an unwavering support for their own when pursuing remarkable endeavors, particularly concerning a meal as cherished as jollof rice.
The rigorous process of setting this record involved approximately nine hours of continuous cooking. To sustain the immense heat required for such a colossal pot, an estimated 1,200 kilograms of gas were utilized. Guinness World Records meticulously outlined specific rules and criteria that had to be adhered to throughout the attempt. Key among these was the stipulation that at least 80% of the total weight of the cooked dish had to be washed basmati rice. Furthermore, all the prepared food was mandated to be served to people, ensuring absolutely no wastage. Crucially, the dish had to be undeniably Nigerian jollof rice, and every recipe and ingredient used needed to be measured with precise accuracy.
Hilda Baci shared the extensive list of ingredients that contributed to this record-setting meal. These included 4,000 kg of washed basmati rice, 612 kg of oil, 800 kg of Gino Asun peppered chicken + party jollof, and 600 kg of her Jollof pepper mix. Additional components comprised 220 kg of Gino Asun & peppered chicken cubes, a blend of 20 g of Gino curry and 7 g of Gino thyme, 300 kg of onion, garlic & ginger blend, and 164 kg of fresh goat meat. The aforementioned 1,200 kg of gas was also a critical "ingredient" in the successful execution of the cooking.
The official confirmation of Hilda Baci's new world record arrived three days after the attempt, on September 15, 2025. Guinness World Records verified that all stipulated criteria had been met without exception. This included a thorough check of the ingredient proportions, the required weight measurements, and strict adherence to the rules governing display, cooking time, and the mandatory distribution of the immense quantity of food. This achievement stands as a testament to Baci's culinary skill, dedication, and the vibrant culinary heritage of Nigeria.
