HARTFORD, Vt. (WCAX) - Flooding in downtown Hartford Vermont Saturday after storms swept across our region.

Roads in the town covered with ankle deep water. Vermont Alerts asks residents to avoid driving on flooded roads.

Vermont Alerts also reports trees and powerlines down throughout the town and nearby villages.

“It was like a whiteout, strong winds hail, and then once everything kind of settled down, we could see that the trees were like on the house neighbor’s house, our house. And there’s this times as well, there’s been proof a couple trees pulled out in their backyard. So, uh mm, I think it was microburst? I don’t know. I had no idea but it was crazy because it’s really wild really fast,” said Tucker Adams of Hartford.

Officials are asking people to avoid unnecessary travel.

Also some strong winds in Northern Vermont Saturday, a strange cloud formation out on Lake Champlain - near Sand Bar State Park off the causeway in Milton as you head into Grand Isle.

Hail battered Williston and other areas with some golf ball size pieces reported in parts of the state.
