He's Back! Legendary Assassin John Wick Returns After Three-Year Silence!

Three years after the theatrical release of John Wick: Chapter 4, the iconic action hero is confirmed to return, albeit not in the way many fans initially expected. During a recent PlayStation State of Play event, Lionsgate and Saber Interactive officially unveiled the first look at their currently untitled John Wick video game, much to the excitement of fans of Keanu Reeves' character.

The action-packed trailer for the game opened with stunning pre-rendered footage, vividly bringing to life the unique criminal underworld established by Chad Stahelski's blockbuster film series. Viewers were treated to glimpses of the Baba Yaga in action, complete with his signature "yeah," which strikingly resembles Keanu Reeves' own voice. The trailer then transitioned into a proper demonstration of brutal gameplay, showcasing John Wick engaging in combat against formidable foes within the expansive criminal underworld.

While the game clearly features Keanu Reeves' likeness, it remains uncertain whether he will reprise his voice role for the character or if a different actor will be cast, drawing parallels to Troy Baker's portrayal of Harrison Ford's character in 'Indiana Jones and the Great Circle'. However, fans can rejoice in the news that longtime John Wick film director, Chad Stahelski, is creatively involved with the video game project. The development by Saber Interactive also instills confidence, given their strong track record with licensed video games, which includes two other titles currently in development: the single-player survival games 'Hellraiser: Revival' and 'Jurassic Park: Survival'.

An official synopsis for the game reveals that it is "Created in collaboration between Saber, Lionsgate, and franchise director Chad Stahelski," and will feature "an original script set in the John Wick timeline, expanding on the franchise's intricate lore with familiar characters fans already know, as well as completely new ones." Saber's design promises to remain faithful to the distinct style and signature elements of the series, incorporating a unique 'gun fu' combat system, breathtaking camerawork, immersive driving experiences, and a diverse array of memorable environments. The objective is to make players truly feel as though they are starring as John Wick in a movie from the franchise.

Beyond the video game, the John Wick universe continues to expand. Despite the first theatrical spin-off, 'Ballerina', underperforming at the box office, Lionsgate is committed to further exploration. This includes a new spin-off centered on Donnie Yen's character, Caine, and an animated prequel that will delve into John Wick's infamous "impossible task" that secured his freedom prior to the events of the first film. Furthermore, 'John Wick: Chapter 5' has been confirmed to be in the works, though production is likely to commence only after Chad Stahelski fulfills his commitments to his highly anticipated 'Highlander' remake, starring Henry Cavill.

The 'Untitled John Wick Video Game' currently does not have an official release date.
