HBO’s ‘Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Debuts to 6.7 Million Viewers in Three Days

The Westeros fandom showed up to, 6.7 million viewers in three days. That is not just solid — that’s top-three series launch territory for HBO Max.
For comparison, The Pitt pulled 5.4 million for its Season 2 premiere, while Industry Season 4 opened with 800,000 in the same window. So yeah, Dunk and Egg did numbers.
Originally titled The Hedge Knight, the series sits between House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones on the Westerosi timeline.
It adapts George R. R. Martin’s beloved Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas — smaller in scale, more character-driven, but deeply rich in Targaryen-era politics.
Peter Claffey steps into the armor as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall, while Dexter Sol Ansell plays his sharp, secretly royal squire Egg.
The supporting cast includes Daniel Ings, Bertie Carvel, Sam Spruell, and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, among others.
Critically? It is thriving — sitting at 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Audience reactions are more mixed at 70%, mostly from fans expecting dragon-scale chaos instead of the novella’s slower, reflective tone. But honestly, the pacing feels intentional.
This story was never meant to be all-out war — it’s about honor, legacy, and the quiet tension simmering before Targaryen storms.
Season 1 runs six episodes, and HBO clearly believes in it — Season 2 is already confirmed for next year.
Meanwhile, the Westeros pipeline is busy.
House of the Dragon Season 3 is on the way, with showrunner Ryan Condal confirming it will conclude with Season 4.
And if that wasn’t enough, Martin has revealed that an Arya Stark sequel series — centered on Arya Stark, played by Maisie Williams — is in early development, exploring what lies west of Westeros.
