One of those films stars four-time Oscar-nominated actress Saoirse Ronan and has been labeled a "must-watch" by audiences. Directed by Nora Fingscheidt, who co-wrote the film with Daisy Lewis (adapted from the memoir by Amy Liptrot), The Outrun is now streaming on HBO Max. At the time of writing, it is the fourth most popular movie on the streaming platform this week. Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan's Sinners continues its dominating run in the top spot. The Outrun was a critical darling when it was released in 2024, and was nominated for two BAFTA Awards: Outstanding British Film of the Year and Best Leading Actress for Ronan. The Outrun is also one of those rare movies where the critics' and audiences' opinions are the same. The film holds a joint 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Outrun captures that through stunning cinematography, while delivering on the emotional and real story of Rona's recovery. Alongside Ronan, the film also stars Paapa Essiedu, Nabil Elouahabi, Izuka Hoyle, and Seamus Dillane.

On the whole, they are very positive, as users have connected with Rona's internalized struggle. "Powerful story, very inspiring, a must watch for anyone struggling to make changes in their lives," wrote one user. Another praised the various elements and emotions contained within the film, writing:

The Outrun held its premiere at the BFI London International Film Festival in October of last year. MovieWeb's Julian Roman viewed the film at the time and scored it a 7/10. His review read:
