Olivia Culpo Says She Was 'Roasted' Over What She Packed in Her Hospital Bag to Give Birth
On Sunday, July 13, announced that she and her husband, NFL star , welcomed their first child into the world, a daughter name Colette Annalise McCaffrey.
Several days before announcing Colette’s birth, Culpo took to TikTok to share all of what she was bringing to the hospital as she prepared for her daughter’s arrival.
And the five-minute long video which showed her discussing the two large suitcases she filled with items for the hospital shocked some of her fans.
From pillows and comforters for herself and McCaffrey to postpartum kits, candles, and outfits for their baby, Culpo admitted she may have went overboard when it comes to all that she packed.
“I’m a first time mom packing hospital bag,” Culpo began the video. “ I worked really hard on this, and I know how overwhelming the whole process is that I committed a while ago to making a video, because I hope it can be a resource to people, because I’ve watched so many of these and they’re really interesting.”
As Culpo began running down the list of things she decided to bring to the hospital, Culpo shared one of the “most ridiculous things” she packed, “flameless, flickering candles.”
As the former Miss Universe concluded her video, she admitted that “a lot of this stuff is more luxuries as opposed to essentials, and I’m aware of that. I thought I would make my hospital stay more comfortable.”
“I hope you guys find it useful, but if you didn’t find any of this helpful and you think I’m ridiculous, and that I overpacked, one, I slightly agree with you. And two, you made it this far in the video, and I commend you for that.”
In the comment section, Culpo responded to some of the comments that roasted her for everything she brought with her to the hospital.
“The flickering candles made me literally LOL,” one commenter wrote, which Culpo responded saying, “I am SOOOOOO happy I had these 😭 They come with a remote control. I had a c section so I couldn’t get up to turn on or off the lights (which are horrible and fluorescent anyway). I wanted to be able to see the baby at night etc. No one will ever convince me these were a bad idea I’m sorry 😂.”
On her Instagram story, Culpo shared a video of the candles now living on a shelf in Colette’s nursery. “Look what I still couldn’t part ways with,” Culpo quipped. “These really have been AMAZING post c-section.”
“A got roasted a little for what I packed,” Culpo continued on her Instagram story. “But I needed up using it ALL,” she admitted. “When you’re recovering from a c-section and stuck in the hospital for 3-4+ days, having your creature comforts is no joke. Sharing in case it helps another comfort queen.”
Other commenters defended Culpo’s birth preparation.
“As a labor nurse, literally bring whatever you want,” a comment read. “Comfort is important especially if you have a c-section and have a longer hospital stay!”
“I ended up being there for 4 days,” Culpo responded, sharing details of her hospital stay after giving birth to Colette, “and I’m so grateful I was comfortable. Well as comfortable as you can be after getting your entire stomach sliced open.”
