Temperatures across Greece are set to rise steadily throughout the first week of June, with meteorologists forecasting a significant yet manageable warm spell fueled by air masses from North Africa.
“This is not a heatwave,” meteorologist Giannis Kallianos said on Monday, describing the event as a mild warm front that is not expected to bring Saharan dust, which often accompanies similar patterns.
Temperatures are expected to increase daily, peaking toward the end of the week. In some areas, the mercury could reach up to 38 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday, Kallianos said, noting that localized variations in the forecast are still possible.
While such early summer heat is typical for the region, authorities are advising residents to stay hydrated and limit sun exposure during peak hours.
