Gracie Abrams Soars to #1 Down Under with Hit Single 'Daughter From Hell'

The latest ARIA Charts, published on Friday, July 24, unveil a dynamic landscape for both albums and singles, prominently featuring a strong presence from female artists across the top positions. On the ARIA Albums Chart, Gracie Abrams has been crowned at No. 1 with her new release, "Daughter From Hell" (via Interscope/Universal). This achievement marks Abrams' second time at the summit, following the success of "The Secret Of Us," which spent three weeks at No. 1 in 2024-25. Notably, her debut studio album, "Good Riddance," previously peaked at No. 30 in 2023. "Daughter From Hell" also claimed the title of the week’s best-seller on vinyl, successfully displacing Olivia Rodrigo’s "you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love" (Geffen/Universal), which moved down from No. 1 to No. 2. Completing an all-female top three, Olivia Dean's "The Art of Loving" (Universal) ascended from No. 4 to No. 3, underscoring the significant impact of female artists in the current music scene.

Beyond the leading positions, several other notable entries made their mark on the ARIA Albums Chart. U.S. metalcore act Motionless in White achieved a career high and their first appearance in the top 10 with their seventh studio album, "Decades" (Roadrunner/Warner), debuting at No. 5. This surpasses their previous best of No. 14 for "Scoring The End Of The World" in 2022. Viral U.S. singer, songwriter, and producer Steve Lacy also entered the chart at No. 19 with "Oh Yeah" (RCA/Sony). Close behind, Melbourne singer Holly Hebe secured the top-ranked Australian album spot with her third EP, "Mood Ring" (GYRO Music), debuting at No. 23, marking her first appearance on an ARIA Chart. Australian indie band Swapmeet from Adelaide made a top 30 start with their debut album, "Mount Zero" (Winspear), entering at No. 26, while Liverpool, England metalcore merchants Loathe entered at No. 28 with "A Stranger To You" (Nuclear Blast/ADA).

On the ARIA Singles Chart, Ella Langley's "Choosin’ Texas" (Sony Music), a four-times platinum hit, impressively entered its seventh non-consecutive week at the top spot. Langley maintained a strong presence with two other tracks on the chart: "Weren’t For The Wind," which moved down from 32 to 36, and "Be Her," slipping from 40 to 41. Mirroring the album chart's female dominance, the singles chart podium was also locked up by female artists. Olivia Dean’s "Man I Need" (Universal), a five-times platinum track, held firmly at No. 2. Furthermore, Dean's collaboration with fellow British artist Sam Fender on "Rein Me In" (Dew Process/Universal) remained unchanged at No. 3, solidifying a strong week for both Dean and female artists in general across the Australian music charts.
