Alphabet Beats Q2 Expectations as AI and Advertising Drive Growth

Alphabet, Google's parent company, has reported better-than-expected second-quarter results, driven by strong growth in artificial intelligence and digital advertising. The tech giant posted earnings of $112.11 billion for the April-to-June period, while revenue rose by 24 percent to $119.8 billion, surpassing analysts' projections.

The company also recorded a $98 billion net gain, largely due to gains from equity investments, including SpaceX's public listing in June. Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai credited the company's AI investments for transforming its products and services across consumer and enterprise markets.

Google's AI platform, Gemini, is nearing one billion users, joining AI Overviews and AI Mode among the company's fastest-growing AI offerings. The cloud business also recorded strong growth, benefiting from increasing demand for Google's AI tools, infrastructure, and security solutions.

Advertising revenue remained a major driver of Alphabet's performance, boosted by Google's search engine and increased World Cup-related advertising on YouTube. Following the earnings announcement, Alphabet's shares rose in after-hours trading, reflecting investor confidence that the company's aggressive AI strategy is translating into significant business growth.
