Gomoa Easter Carnival Ignites Ghana with Culture, Music & Star Performances!

The Gomoa Easter Carnival, a significant cultural event spearheaded by Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus) and powered by the Multimedia Group Limited, has transformed the Gomoa region into a hub of music, art, and community engagement. Set to become a foundational staple of the Easter festivities in Ghana's Central Region, the carnival showcased an impressive array of activities and performances across its duration.
Day two of the carnival reached a fever pitch on Friday evening, drawing thousands of enthusiastic revellers to a spectacular celebration. The highlight was a high-octane concert that kept the massive crowd on their feet until the early hours of Saturday. Legendary reggae-dancehall artist Samini headlined the night, delivering a powerful performance. He was supported by a stellar lineup of Ghanaian musicians including Kwabena Kwabena, Ofori Amponsah, Kofi Nti, Dada Hafco, and Bless, who all contributed to the electrifying atmosphere.
The maiden Gomoa Easter Carnival continued to captivate crowds into its third day at the Gomoa Ekwamkrom Community Park, shifting its focus towards heritage and community identity after two days of electrifying music. The day commenced with a vibrant masquerade procession, journeying from Gomoa Obuasi to Gomoa Ekwamkrom, filling the streets with colour and festive energy. Concurrently, live street painting extended from Gomoa Jukwa to Gomoa Ekwamkrom, effectively transforming the urban landscape into a dynamic, moving canvas of art.
A central feature of the third day was the grand durbar, which underscored unity, leadership, and cultural continuity. Traditional leaders, resplendent in colourful kente and regal adornments, arrived in majestic processions, carried in palanquins and accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of drumming and dancing, reflecting the deep-rooted customs and heritage of the Gomoa area. This symbolic gathering of chiefs drew large crowds of residents and visitors, eager to witness the rich cultural displays. The air was alive with the rhythmic sounds of talking drums and traditional ensembles as various cultural groups took turns to perform.
Beyond the traditional displays, the carnival at the Community Park also offered a high-energy street anthem and afrobeat concert. Top Ghanaian artistes such as Bisa, Tinny, Kwaw Kese, Keche, Obrafour, and Sista Afia graced the stage, filling the air with pulsating beats and attracting throngs of excited fans. In line with the festival’s commitment to community wellness and broader engagement, additional activities included a competitive tennis tournament, comprehensive health screenings, and a fashion show. The fashion show notably highlighted emerging local designers who skillfully blended contemporary styles with traditional Ghanaian motifs, showcasing the evolving landscape of Ghanaian design.
Organisers emphasized that this holistic combination of heritage, art, music, and wellness aimed to make the maiden Gomoa Easter Carnival a comprehensive celebration of Ghanaian culture and community spirit. Social media platforms were abuzz with updates under the hashtag #GomoaEasterCarnival, capturing live performances, vibrant street art, and the palpable energy of the crowds, further amplifying the event's reach and impact.
