Ghanaians descend on Sam George over Bawumia comment
Sam George, Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations
Minister for Communication, Sam George has incurred the wrath of Ghanaians again, for using disparaging words on the former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Following Bawumia’s call for calm and action against perpetrators of the violence in the re-run Ablekuma election, Sam George responded in a tone many Ghanaians have viewed as disrespectful.
"Tell Bawumia to shut up," Sam George reacted on his social media account, and asked what Bawumia did in the 2019 Ayawaso West Wugon by election violence
Sam George's post has however been roundly condemned, with many Ghanaians accusing him of disrespect and justifying the violence in Ablekuma.
Popular blogger, Bongo Ideas, was among those who hit out at the Minister for his comments, reminding him about President Mahama's code of conduct for Ministers.
"Oh no! This is not right. Political division should not be the reason you go so hard at him. You were given a code of conduct you must adhere to. This is not right," Bongo Ideas wrote under Sam George's post on X.
"You are a minister for God sake! Some of this utterances are not necessary," another wrote.
Many others on different platforms on social media have expressed shock at the tone of Sam George's comment, reminding him that Bawumia roundly condemned the Ayawaso West Wugon electoral violence when he swore in the Commission of Enquiry on the issue
Just a few days ago, Sam Geroege, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, came under fire for attacking a social media user who had asked him to prioritise the improvement of bad roads in his constituency.
He told the citizen that he will fix the roads after "fixing his brain."
