The Ghana Health Service has reassigned several regional health directors

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has reassigned several regional health directors as part of efforts to enhance quality healthcare in the country.

The reassignments, which take effect from April 14, 2025, were announced in a statement issued by the service on Friday, March 7, 2025.

"As part of efforts to strengthen quality health service delivery and facilitate the achievement of the objectives of the Ghana Health Service, the following directors have been reassigned as follows, with effect from April 14, 2025," the statement read.

Among those reassigned is Samuel Kwabena Boakye-Boateng, who previously served as the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) in the Upper East Region.

He will now take up the role of Director of the Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division (PPMED) at the GHS headquarters.

Dr. Kennedy T.C. Brightson, formerly the Medical Superintendent at Shai-Osudoku Municipal Hospital, will become the Acting Director of Family Health at the GHS headquarters, while Dr. Abdulai Abukari, previously the Regional Health Director in the Northern Region, will now serve as the Director of Special Duties at the GHS headquarters.

Dr. Alberta Adjebeng Biritwum-Nyarko, who previously served as the Director of PPMED at the GHS headquarters, has been appointed Regional Director of Health Services in the Central Region.

Dr. Marian Okoh-Owusu, who was formerly the Director of the Family Health Division (FHD) at the GHS headquarters, will now serve as the Bono East Regional Director of Health Services.

Dr. Braimah Baba Abubakari, who previously served as the Regional Director of Health Services in the North East Region, has been reassigned to the Upper East Region, while Damien Punguyire, formerly the Regional Director of Health Services in the Upper West Region, will now head the Eastern Region.
