Renowned director Noah Baumbach, who co-wrote the script for 2023's Barbie with his wife, Greta Gerwig, has a new project set to premiere on Netflix this year. The project, which has been in development for over a year, boasts a star-studded ensemble cast.

The Oscar-nominated filmmaker wrote and directed the movie. His previous credits include Netflix's 2022's White Noise and 2019's Marriage Story. He received four Oscar nominations for 2005's The Squid and the Whale, Marriage Story, and Barbie.
So far, there aren't many details about the plot of Jay Kelly, except that it's described as a "heartbreaking comedy." Clooney's previous credits include the Julia Roberts rom-com 2022's Ticket to Paradise, and 2020's The Midnight Sky, as well as 2024's Wolfs, which reunited him with his Ocean's trilogy co-star, Brad Pitt.
Meanwhile, Adam Sandler is best known for his comedies. The actor starred in many titles, like 2006's Click, 2010's Grown Ups, 2009's Funny People, and 2019's Murder Mystery, and also showed his acting talents in 2024's Spaceman, 2022's Hustle, and 2019's Uncut Gems.
Jay Kelly reunites Baumbach with Marriage Story's Laura Dern, who is also part of the cast. Aside from Dern, Clooney, and Sandler, the upcoming film also features Billy Crudup (Almost Famous, 20th Century Women), Grace Edwards (Asteroid City, Call Jane), Stacy Keach (Nebraska, The Bourne Legacy), Riley Keough (Zola, Daisy Jones & the Six), Emily Mortimer (Lars and the Real Girl, Match Point), Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring, Angels in America), Jim Broadbent (Gangs of New York, Another Year), Eve Hewson (Bad Sisters, Flora and Son), Alba Rohrwacher (Maria, La Chimera), and his real-life wife and frequent collaborator Greta Gerwig (White Noise, Frances Ha).
Aside from Jay Ellis, which is set to premiere on the platform this year, Sandler has another exciting title coming out in 2025. Almost three decades after the premiere of 1996's Happy Gilmore, Sandler is reprising his role as Happy.
The upcoming Happy Gilmore 2 has also treated fans with a brand-new look of Happy on the golf course as he takes a big swing as the crowd is watching him. Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald will return to reprise their roles, with Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (popular singer Bad Bunny) joining the film as his caddie. Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce will also have a cameo in the sequel.
Both Jay Ellis and Happy Gilmore 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
