Gaming Startup Zupee Defies Online Law, Focuses on Social Entertainment

Zupee, a leading online social gaming company in India, officially announced its complete alignment with the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025, on Wednesday. The company reiterated its long-standing commitment to operating in full compliance with Indian laws and regulations, expressing deep respect for the country's legal framework. Zupee confirmed that it has already fulfilled all provisions outlined in the new Act and will not challenge or contest the law in any court.
Dilsher Singh Malhi, Founder and CEO of Zupee, emphasized the company's full respect for the legislative process and its dedication to operating and innovating within the law. He also highlighted Zupee's commitment to collaborating with policymakers to further shape India's entertainment ecosystem. As an immediate consequence of the Act, Zupee has discontinued all paid game formats on its platform. While new deposits are no longer accepted, existing users are being actively requested to withdraw their balances, which remain fully accessible. The company is facilitating a smooth and transparent transition for its user community, underscoring its responsibility.
Malhi framed this regulatory shift not as a setback, but as an opportunity to reinforce Zupee's core mission: building culturally rooted, social games that bring people together. He stressed the company's commitment to creating experiences that blend India's rich cultural legacy with technological possibilities, aiming for an inclusive, innovative, and future-ready gaming and entertainment ecosystem. Zupee also affirmed its dedication to ensuring its talented teams continue to thrive through this transition, viewing their creativity and resilience as the company's greatest strength.
Since its inception, Zupee has been founded on the belief that games are more than mere entertainment; they are profound expressions of culture, connection, and community. The company was established with the vision of making India's most cherished and culturally resonant games accessible to the digital generation. Zupee has been a pioneer in reviving and popularizing traditional Indian social games, most notably by reimagining Ludo, a household favorite for centuries, into a mobile-first gaming experience. This initiative has successfully engaged over 150 million users across India, marrying tradition with technology and establishing Zupee as one of the country's fastest-growing online social gaming platforms.
Beyond Ludo, Zupee's expanding portfolio has included other culturally rooted titles such as Snakes & Ladders and Trump Cards Mania, further reinforcing its mission to celebrate India's heritage while delivering joyful entertainment. The company has a history of navigating evolving challenges, from regulatory changes to competitive pressures, always adapting with resilience, integrity, trust, and user-first innovation. This current moment is no different, with Zupee poised to continue developing online social games and entertainment avenues that go beyond recreation, designed instead to engage, inspire, and entertain users. The success with Ludo has already demonstrated the potential of reimagining classic experiences, and the company's focus remains steadfast on expanding a diverse portfolio of interactive offerings that leverage the opportunities of the digital age.
