Gachagua vows to take Ruto to ICC

Published 11 hours ago2 minute read

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) party leader Rigathi Gachagua has said that the opposition is finalizing evidence against President William Ruto for submission to the International Criminal Court.

Gachagua noted that the case accuses Ruto of excessive police force against anti-government protesters, Gen Z abductions, and killings, including his alleged order to "shoot protesters on the legs."

Speaking in Seattle, Gachagua warned Gen Z against engaging in dialogue with the president and urged them to keep fighting for the liberation of the country, accusing the government of driving Kenya into economic turmoil.

"I want to confirm that we have put up a team that is documenting all inhuman actions to protesters. We have also put together a team collecting evidence to take William Ruto to The Hague because you need the future after his exit," Gachagua said.

"He has said you will be shot in the leg. I’m asking Gen Z that your issues have been heard, you have said enough — the next battle with Kasongo is on the ballot."

"Even if Kasongo himself becomes the chair of IEBC, we will still defeat him. Even if he becomes the whole commission, we will still win — but we have to stick together," said Martha Karua, PLP party leader.
