The Viola Davis kickass spy movie G20 has pulled in more than 50 million worldwide Prime Video viewers since its April 10 launch. We understand that number makes the Patricia Riggen-directed movie one of Amazon MGM Studios’ 10 most-watched action films of all time on the service.

Backing up Amazon’s viewership is the fact that the movie also landed at No. 1 on Nielsen’s movie chart during it debut week with 516 million minutes streamed.

In addition, G20 over-indexed with women on Prime Video. Amazon MGM has had a strong of female-led movies including Maintenance Required, starring Madelaine Petsch; The Map That Leads to You, starring Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa; We Were Liars, starring Emily Alyn Lind, which premiered June 18; and the third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, which will premiere July 16.

In the movie, terrorists take over the G20 summit with Davis’ President Sutton. She not only delivers her governing experience, but shows these bad guys they’re dealing with the wrong head of state as she defends her family and the world. G20 also stars Anthony Anderson, Marsai Martin, Ramón Rodríguez, Douglas Hodge, Elizabeth Marvel, Sabrina Impacciatore, Christopher Farrar and Antony Starr.

Caitlin Parrish & Erica Weiss and Logan Miller & Noah Miller wrote the screenplay, from a story by Logan Miller & Noah Miller. Producers are MRC, Mad Chance Productions’ Andrew Lazar, and JuVee Productions’ Davis and Julius Tennon, with David Fliegel, Rob Williams, Danny Sherman, Logan Miller and Noah Miller executive producing.

Oscar winner Davis’ JuVee Productions has a deal at Amazon MGM. Davis and Tennon are currently working with the studio to develop Ally Clark. From director Phillip Noyce, the thriller follows investigator Ally Clark (Davis) who embarks on a perilous inquiry into an international conglomerate following the suspicious death of a close friend. JuVee also produced Amazon MGM’s 2023 documentary, Silver Dollar Road. From Oscar nominee Raoul Peck, the film follows the story of the Reels family as told by the matriarch Mamie Reels Ellison and her niece Kim Renee Duhon, two fierce women defending their rights and fighting to protect their ancestor’s land and their brothers and uncles Melvin and Licurtis, who were imprisoned for eight years – the longest sentence for civil contempt in North Carolina history.

G20 also continues a winning streak for MRC and Amazon MGM Studios. The two companies previously teamed on films and series including the Oscar-winning film American FictionSaltburn starring Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi, the series The Terminal List and its upcoming prequel series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, which is set to premiere on Prime Video on August 27.
