FSTs formed for safeguard of farmers

Imphal, July 11 2025: In an effort to ensure safe and secure farming activities, and prevent any untoward incidents during paddy cultivation in the fringe areas, Imphal East district administration has constituted Flying Squad Teams (FSTs) to address any disputes, complaints, concerns, or clarifications that may arise during the farming season.

An order issued by Imphal East deputy commissioner Dr Nivedita Lairenlakpam, stated that designated sub-divisional officers and police officials have been assigned to lead the flying squad teams in various sub-divisions, including Sa wombung and Keirao Bitra.

These teams will visit farming areas in their respective revenue circles twice a week, and as and when required.

According to the order, Wahengbam Ranjan, SDC Sagolmang (7085111778), and OC Basanta of Sagolmang police station (9612700858) have been assigned to oversee the Sawombung sub-division.

Additionally, Sapam Nirva, SDC Sawombung (6009313677), and OC Yangmi Shimray of Yaingangpokpi police station (9612477625) have also been tasked with covering the same region.

Meanwhile, for Keirao Bitra sub-division, Irom Nirmal Singh, SDC Tulihal (9612192445), along with OC Md Shahid Khan of Maphou Dam police station 7085200769), will lead the monitoring efforts.

The order mentioned that farmers and farmers' associations may contact the heads of the respective FSTs or reach out to the district nodal officers at 6009849292 or 6009696262 .

The order further stated that SDCs from other non-affected circles will remain on reserve duty and provide reinforcement as and when directed.

All officers and FSTs have been instructed to submit a weekly report to the office of the deputy commissioner, Imphal East, by Friday, 5 pm, without fail.
