FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Howe Springs Fire Rescue crews were kept busy Monday night, simultaneously working a wreck that killed two people and battling a large blaze at a home, authorities said.

Units were sent to Allen Road in the Effingham area where a two-story home with an attached garage was fully engulfed. Crews deployed lined and extinguished the fire before conducting a property search.

Officials said nobody was home, and a water shuttle was deployed due a lack of fire hydrants.

Four engines, four tankers, a ladder truck, a heavy rescue vehicle and a traffic response unit along with 29 firefighters worked the scene.
