FIRS Launches Book to Promote Financial Literacy and Civic Responsibility

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), in collaboration with Arojah Concepts and Sprezzatura Publishing Ltd, is set to launch an educational book titled “Taxation: Essential Knowledge for Nigerian Children.” This launch aims to promote financial literacy and civic responsibility among young Nigerians. The public unveiling will occur in Abuja as part of the 2025 Children’s Day celebration activities.
Authored by Arabinrin Aderonke Ejiura Blessing Haruna and edited by Dr. M.S. Abubakar, the book serves as a simplified introduction to taxation, specifically tailored for secondary school students. Its primary goal is to cultivate early awareness regarding the crucial role of taxes in national development and to foster responsible citizenship among the youth.
The event will be hosted by the Chairman of the FIRS, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, with Vice President Kashim Shettima attending as the Very Special Guest of Honour. The occasion will be graced by several dignitaries, including the Chairman of JAIZ Bank, Dr. Umaru Abdul Mutallab, who will serve as the Distinguished Father of the Day, and Alhaji Nasiru Dano, Saduanan Dutse of Jigawa State, who will be the Chief Launcher.
Dr. Bissan Ezekiel Dankadi Joseph, Director at the Abuja Business School, University of Abuja, will deliver the official book review. Organized by Arojah Concepts, the event includes book readings by students, interactive games, cultural performances, and a dance drama, all designed to emphasize tax education. This initiative marks a significant step towards shaping financially literate and socially responsible leaders for the future.
