FIBA Basketball Updates: Broncos, France Roster, and 3x3 Chengdu Masters

The Broncos secured their second consecutive win in the Basketball Champions League Asia-East (BCL Asia-East) 2025, dominating Adroit with an 87-41 victory at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok. The Broncos started strong, led by Barsbold Baatar Erdene, who scored the first points with two consecutive three-pointers. The Broncos quickly established a 10-0 run, making six three-pointers to conclude the first quarter with a significant 31-10 lead. Although Adroit improved in the second quarter, the Broncos further extended their lead to over 30 points in the third quarter, ultimately securing the win.
Head coach Ariunbold Erdene attributed the win to thorough preparation. Jordy Tshimanga achieved his first double-double for the Broncos, scoring 18 points and securing 11 rebounds. Ian Miller contributed with 9 assists, the highest in BCL Asia-East so far. Tushig Elbeg scored 15 points in his BCL Asia-East debut, while Saruul-erdene Enkhbaatar and Azbayar Altangerel also scored in double digits.
The Broncos have the opportunity to remain undefeated on their away games as they prepare to face Hitech Basketball Club. Coach Erdene emphasized the importance of defense for the upcoming game. Tshimanga stressed the need to maintain focus and replicate their performance. Oleksandr Kolchenko was Adroit's top scorer with 14 points. Adroit will aim to secure their first BCL Asia-East win against the New Taipei Kings.
In other basketball news, France basketball fans are awaiting the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2025. Head coach Ruddy Nelhomme announced the 17 nominated players, including six returning from the FIBA U18 EuroBasket 2024 team. Nelhomme, who previously served as an assistant coach, will gather the players for training in Vichy and Paris, followed by an exhibition game against Canada before heading to Lausanne, Switzerland.
Returning players include Martin Carrere, Mohamed Diakite, Japhet Moupadele, Mohamed Sankhe, Leon Sifferlin, and Yohann Sissoko. The preliminary list consists of players born in 2006, except for Noa Kouakou Heugue and Soren Bracq, who were born in 2007 and participated in the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2024. The 2025 FIBA 3x3 Chengdu World Tour commenced with victories for London and Raudondvaris Hoptrans. London dominated Pool D with wins over Vracar and Lausanne. Raudondvaris overcame Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy. Chongming topped Pool B, while Hangzhou upset Ub in Pool A. Baasandorj Munkhtur excelled in the China Telecom Shootout Contest.
Quarter-Finals matchups include Hangzhou vs. Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy, London vs. Amsterdam RABOBANK, Chongming vs. Lausanne, and Raudondvaris Hoptrans vs. Ub. The tournament in Chengdu will conclude to determine the victor heading to the Hong Kong Final.
