Federal High Court Redeploys Five Judges
The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has approved the redeployment of some judges of the Court.
This was disclosed in a statement released by the Director of Information, Dr Catherine Oby Christopher, on Sunday, in Abuja.
According to the statement, Justice M. G. Umar has been moved from the Enugu Judicial Division to Abuja, while Justice Tijjani Garba Ringim will now serve in the Yola Division, having been redeployed from Gombe.
Similarly, Justice M. T. Segun-Bello has been transferred from the Abakaliki Division to Enugu, just as Justice Bala Khalifa-Mohammed Usman will now serve in the Awka Division, moving from Yola.
Also, Justice Amina Aliyu Mohammed has been redeployed from Awka to the Gombe division.
The statement states that the redeployments take immediate effect, adding that judges affected by the changes are expected to make every effort to deliver all pending judgments in their current stations as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, judges currently resident in the Abakaliki and Katsina Judicial Divisions will handle all existing and new cases in those jurisdictions, pending further instructions.
Additionally, the statement informs the public that all cases pending before Court No. 5 in the Abuja Judicial Division will be taken over by the judge newly assigned to Abuja. As a result, litigants and counsel do not need to apply to the Chief Judge for reassignment of cases previously pending before that court.
