The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA) will head to the polls on Saturday, June 14, 2025, to elect a new set of executives.
The election, which will be held at the Area 10 Old Parade Ground in Abuja, will determine the leadership that will steer the affairs of the chapter for the next four years.
According to the Electoral Committee, led by former U-20 national team assistant coach Samuel Abimbola, 12 candidates are contesting for 10 positions.
Among the contested posts are Assistant Secretary and Financial Secretary. Isah Mohammed and Osabiku Begin Otiba are competing for the Assistant Secretary role, while Babatunde Olufunso B. (BOB) Oluwole is up against Mary Ochehulunu Godspower for Financial Secretary.
Several other positions are unopposed, including Chairman (Bartholomew David), Vice Chairmen (Mansur Abdullahi and Alex Emmanuel Agbo), and officers like the Treasurer, Auditor, PRO, Training Officer, Welfare Officer, and Provost. However, per Article 4 (II) of the Electoral Guidelines, unopposed candidates must receive at least 75% of the total votes cast to be declared winners.
Abimbola stressed that only candidates who completed the nomination process and were cleared by the National Executive Committee (NEC) are eligible. He also reminded all candidates to submit names of their agents—who must be registered NFCA members—by 6:00 PM on Friday, June 13.
The NEC, in a letter dated June 5 and signed by Secretary Stanley Eguma, formally approved the election and warned that any candidate found submitting false information would be disqualified immediately.
Dr. Gwadale Ibrahim, Assistant Training Officer from Kano State, has been appointed as the official NEC delegate and observer for the election.
