The storm, which commenced around 2 pm (0700 GMT) on Saturday, caused the sky to darken rapidly, bringing with it a thunderstorm and lightning. Ha Long Bay is a cornerstone of Vietnam's tourism industry, attracting millions annually with its distinctive blue-green waters and limestone islands. This incident, however, is not the first maritime challenge for the region; just last year, 30 vessels sank in coastal Quang Ninh province's boat lock areas near Ha Long Bay due to strong winds and waves brought by Typhoon Yagi.
