Fan Frenzy! Powderfinger's Epic Reunion Tour Expands Due to Unprecedented Demand!

It takes a lot to surprise the seasoned members of Powderfinger, one of Australia’s most successful rock bands of the past 30 years. However, when pre-sales opened on Wednesday, October 14, for the band’s highly anticipated 2027 reunion tour, the Powderfinger camp was collectively “gobsmacked” by the overwhelming demand. The band, consisting of its classic lineup of Bernard Fanning on vocals, Ian Haug and Darren Middleton on guitars, John “JC” Collins on bass, and Jon Coghill on drums, expressed profound gratitude to their fanbase. Their message conveyed, “Holy s—!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!”

Fans demonstrated extraordinary dedication, with many setting alarms, patiently waiting in virtual queues, and cheering each other on in online comments. The band noted that some supporters are even planning to travel across Australia and from other parts of the world to attend the concerts. This immense display of loyalty and enthusiasm, after all these years, held a significance that the band members struggled to put into words.

Powderfinger’s illustrious career includes a remarkable five consecutive ARIA No. 1 albums, a total of 18 ARIA Awards, and three APRA Awards, including two for Song of the Year. The band previously bid farewell to their fans with ‘The Sunsets Farewell tour,’ a comprehensive 34-date national trek that took place from September to November in 2010. Named after a classic song from their 2004 ARIA No. 1 album *Vulture Street*, that farewell tour alone shifted more than 300,000 tickets, a testament to their enduring appeal and a box office achievement that few Australian acts can command.

The demand for the upcoming 2027 tour is set to dwarf previous records. Initially, 18 dates were announced for the tour, but due to the overwhelming response that “went so far beyond the presale allocation,” the schedule has rapidly expanded to 26 dates, stretching into November 2027. Additional shows were quickly added for major cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth, with tickets for these new dates also flying off the virtual shelves. The tour will feature a homegrown support cast, and performances will take place under “stadium-sized big top” venues in central city locations across Australia, including multiple dates in Cairns, far north Queensland. The general on-sale for tickets commenced on Monday, October 19.
