Ripple CEO Crushes XRP Ledger Rumors, Teases Electrifying Future

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has outlined the next significant phase for the XRP Ledger (XRPL) development, moving beyond its established role in cross-border settlements and buy-and-hold strategies. This new direction emphasizes the integration of native credit infrastructure and sophisticated on-chain yield tools designed specifically for institutional capital. This ambitious plan is currently unfolding against the backdrop of Evernorth Holdings fund's recent listing on Nasdaq, under the ticker XRPN, for which Ripple strategically allocated 127 million XRP tokens.

According to Garlinghouse, the core objective of this initiative is to deploy both on-chain and off-chain products that are capable of efficiently activating and managing liquidity. The yield-generation strategy, a central component of this vision, leverages an existing hybrid CeDeFi (Centralized-Decentralized Finance) architecture. An example of this is the Doppler Finance platform, which has successfully accumulated $150 million from 14,000 depositors within its XRP and RLUSD stablecoin vaults, with the XRP vault alone accounting for $125 million (approximately 90 million tokens). Doppler Finance provides the institutional-grade yield mentioned by Garlinghouse to entities like the Evernorth treasury, the Japanese conglomerate SBI, and major exchange wallets, utilizing advanced financial strategies such as delta-neutral approaches, arbitrage, and spot-perp basis trading. Further liquidity flows are channeled through earnXRP gateways on the Flare network and the XRPL's own native Automated Market Maker (AMM).

The successful implementation of this credit market announced by Garlinghouse hinges on several critical requirements, primarily securing agreement from XRPL validators. Technically, the initiative depends on two pivotal code updates currently undergoing network voting. The first, amendment XLS-65, is designed to introduce single-asset liquidity pools, allowing for XRP-only or RLUSD-only contributions. This mechanism is crucial for safeguarding large institutional funds from the risks associated with impermanent loss. The second amendment, XLS-66, is intended to activate the fundamental mechanism for issuing fixed-term loans directly on the ledger. As of mid-October 2026, support for this key amendment stands at 50–55% among validators. To achieve activation, the code must maintain a supermajority above the 80% threshold for a continuous period of two weeks.

Another crucial element involves embedding robust Wall Street compliance rules directly into the blockchain's operational framework. The unique capabilities of the ledger, as highlighted by the CEO, are intrinsically linked to the strict compliance features within the XLS-66 protocol. To mitigate the inherent risks of anonymous DeFi environments for institutions, critical functions such as underwriting and borrower assessment have been moved off-chain, where they will be conducted by licensed financial institutions. Furthermore, capital safety will be rigorously ensured through a "first-loss" mechanism, and comprehensive Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) verification processes will be handled by the native layer of domain verification and digital mandates, ensuring regulatory adherence and trust.

The necessary accompanying software infrastructure for this advanced ecosystem is already live on the mainnet. Features like Permission Delegation and Atomic Batch allow funds to efficiently distribute account access rights to various stakeholders without compromising the security of private keys. Additionally, the MPT standard is actively being utilized for the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA) in conjunction with Ripple's USD stablecoin. Prominent industry players including Evernorth, Doppler, Clearpool, and Cicada have already declared their intention to roll out native lending services immediately following the activation of these new functionalities, which is anticipated in Q4 2026.
