Family plans protest, legal action in Ahmed Musa murder case; Plateau govt urges action on communal clash

The family of Ahmed Musa, who was tragically killed at the Government Technical College, Malali Kaduna, is preparing to take legal action against the Kaduna State Government. They seek justice and compensation, asserting that the treatment they have received is unfair. In a press statement released on Monday, the family, led by Comrade Musa Mohammed, also known as Moonlight, expressed their grief and concern over the growing insecurity in Nigeria, particularly for young people pursuing a better future.
The family demands a swift and transparent legal process, warning against any political interference. They emphasize the need for the Kaduna State government to acknowledge the unsafe environment for students and provide a formal apology, along with comprehensive compensation of N560,300,000. The family views this as remediation for their loss and warns that if their demands are unmet, they will mobilize mass protests across Kaduna State.
The case, involving four Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVIS) personnel charged with criminal conspiracy and negligence in Musa's death, has been adjourned to April 17, 2025, due to the absence of the witness and prosecutor. The family's petition, dated February 24, 2025, had previously appealed to the Kaduna State Governor for a thorough investigation and punishment for those responsible, along with adequate compensation for the government's negligence as Musa's custodian.
In a separate incident, the Plateau State Government has ordered a thorough investigation into the skirmishes that occurred in the Shimankar community of Shendam LGA. A press statement by Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Ramnap, conveyed the government's deep concern over the breach of peace and emphasized the need for peaceful resolutions.
The government has assured the public of its commitment to peace and security, urging collaboration between community leaders, security agencies, and the public. It reiterated its focus on lasting peace and harmony, irrespective of religious or tribal differences, in line with Governor Mutfwang's 'Time is Now' vision. The State Government has instructed security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the root causes of the skirmishes and to ensure that those responsible for any breach of public peace are held accountable, while urging citizens to remain vigilant and support efforts to de-escalate the situation.
