FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Fairfax County Public Schools will see an adjusted school day on Feb. 11 due to the approaching winter storm.
All Fairfax County public schools and offices will close three hours early Tuesday, according to an alert sent out on Monday evening. In addition, morning and afternoon preschool (special education) classes are canceled.
Total snow accumulations between 4 and 8 inches are possible for portions of Northern Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, according to the National Weather Service. The winter storm warning will be in effect from 1 p.m. Tuesday through 7 a.m. Wednesday.
"Full-day preschool (special education) and Family and Early Childhood Education Program/Head Start classes will be dismissed three hours earlier than the usual time.
"SACC centers will open at the time of school dismissal for children enrolled in the After School session and close at 6:15 p.m. Due to the possibility of hazardous road conditions, NCS administration requests families make every effort to pick up children as soon as possible.
All late buses are canceled.
