Explosive Showdown: Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis Exchange Blows, Agree £1.5M Bet!

The highly anticipated exhibition boxing match between YouTube sensation turned boxer Jake Paul and world lightweight champion Gervonta Davis is set to take place in Miami on November 14. The bout has already generated considerable buzz, not least due to a dramatic face-off in New York and Florida that almost escalated into a physical altercation, necessitating the intervention of social media influencer Rubi Rose.
Scheduled for ten, three-minute rounds, the fight will not count towards either fighter's professional record due to a significant five-stone weight difference between them. Jake Paul, who typically fights in the 200lb cruiserweight division, has agreed not to exceed 195lb for the contest, while Davis is the WBA champion at the 135lb lightweight limit. Despite its exhibition status, knockouts are permitted, and three ringside judges will score the bout to ensure a winner is declared.
A point of contention during the pre-fight discussions revolved around the glove size. Initially, 12oz gloves were slated for use, a detail Paul attributed to Davis's camp. However, following a heated exchange where Paul expressed a preference for lighter gloves, Davis's coach Calvin Ford called for a rule change, eventually leading to an agreement for 10oz gloves. Paul, 28, emphatically stated his desire for 10oz gloves, claiming it would make the fight more exciting for fans. Adding to the pre-fight drama, a staggering $2 million (£1.5 million) bet was agreed upon and sealed with a handshake, though Davis, 30, later cast doubt on his commitment to the wager online.
Both fighters enter this exhibition with recent activity. Jake Paul secured a No.14 WBA cruiserweight ranking after defeating former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June, following his record-breaking $40 million payday against heavyweight icon Mike Tyson last year. Davis, on the other hand, drew with Lamont Roach in March but opted to face Paul instead of pursuing a rematch.
Jake Paul's burgeoning boxing career has made him one of the highest-paid boxers globally, reportedly earning over $100 million from the sport alone. He ranked among the top five highest earners last year with $48 million, excluding his income from the Tyson fight. Paul is known for his extravagant lifestyle, residing in a $16 million mansion in Puerto Rico, boasting a fleet of supercars including matching yellow Ferraris, and collecting luxury watches such as Richard Mille and Rolex timepieces.
