Explosive Lawsuit Targets Donald Trump's 'UFC Freedom 250' Event!

A lawsuit was filed on Saturday by two Virginia residents seeking to prevent President Donald Trump from hosting a UFC fight on the White House South Lawn, an event planned as part of America’s 250th birthday celebration. The legal action, reviewed by Variety, names the National Park Service and the United States Department of the Interior as defendants.

The lawsuit highlights several alleged conflicts of interest on the part of the President, claiming that the proposed “UFC Freedom 250” event is designed to enrich “MAGA allies,” specifically mentioning Paramount-Skydance CEO David Ellison and UFC CEO Dana White, as well as President Trump himself. It further asserts that Trump acquired “up to $50,000 worth of stock in TKO, UFC’s owner,” earlier this year.

A central tenet of the legal challenge revolves around the National Park Service’s standard permitting regulations. According to the suit, these rules explicitly state that “no special events of any sort, including any sporting events, may be held on the South Lawn or at the Lincoln Memorial.” Furthermore, it mandates that structures cannot be erected on the South Lawn without explicit authorization from Congress and a comprehensive environmental review.

The lawsuit does acknowledge a temporary exception to the permitting regime, which is reserved for “special events planned, organized, and executed by executive departments and agencies or the Semiquincentennial Commission” in observance of America’s 250th birthday. However, the plaintiffs contend that the “UFC Freedom 250” is a “private, for-profit sporting event” orchestrated by “the UFC, its broadcast partners, and its advertisers,” rather than a federal government entity.

The suit concludes by arguing that the event is “not in any material sense a ‘celebration of the 250th anniversary of American Independence’” but is instead “a celebration of the UFC’s brand and the 80th anniversary of Donald Trump’s birth.” Consequently, the plaintiffs assert that the “UFC Freedom 250” fails to meet the stringent criteria required for special semiquincentennial events to take place on the White House South Lawn or at the Lincoln Memorial.
