Ethiopian officials have detained 82 individuals suspected of affiliations with the Daesh terrorist organisation, according to the intelligence agency on Tuesday.
The National Intelligence and Security Service announced that the arrested individuals reportedly received training in a neighbouring country and were dispatched to various regions within Ethiopia.
The detentions took place in Addis Ababa and the regions of Oromia, Amhara, Somali, and Harari.

Authorities stated that some of those apprehended are thought to have participated in illegal activities such as gathering intelligence, funding, and logistics.
The agency noted that community members played a role in aiding the arrests, and investigations are currently ongoing.
