ESPN Unveils MVP's Groundbreaking Women's Boxing Platform!

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) is embarking on a significant venture with the launch of MVPW, a dedicated global platform for women's boxing. This initiative is solidified by a new multiyear broadcast agreement with ESPN, set to commence on April 5, 2026. The co-founders of MVP, Nakisa Bidarian and Jake Paul, articulated their long-term vision, stating that MVP has strategically aimed to become the global home for women's boxing, featuring the best fighters and engaging both existing fans and new demographics drawn to women's sports. They highlighted their past five years of substantial investment in female athletes, delivering historic and record-breaking events that prove these athletes deserve the sport's biggest stages.

The inaugural event, MVPW-01, will mark MVP's U.K. debut at Olympia Events in London on April 5. The card is headlined by a compelling 10-round lightweight unification bout between WBC champion Caroline Dubois (12-0-1, 5 KOs) and WBO titleholder Terri Harper (16-2-2, 6 KOs). Also featured is a highly anticipated 10-round undisputed junior featherweight championship clash between unified champion Ellie Scotney (11-0) and WBA champion Mayelli Flores (13-1-1, 4 KOs). Additionally, Chantelle Cameron (21-1, 8 KOs) will move up two divisions to contend for the vacant WBO junior middleweight title against the undefeated Michaela Kotaskova (11-0-4, 2 KOs) in another 10-round contest.

The action continues with MVPW-02 on April 17, held at the Infosys Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This event will see unified junior lightweight champion Alycia Baumgardner (17-1, 7 KOs) defend her titles against South Korea's Bo Mi Re Shin (19-3-3, 10 KOs) in the main event, notably contested under men's rules with 12 three-minute rounds. The co-feature will pit unified super middleweight champion Shadasia Green (16-1, 11 KOs) against former light heavyweight champion Lani Daniels (11-4-2, 1 KO). Baumgardner expressed her excitement, stating, "New York sets the tone for boxing's biggest nights. Every fight for me is about elevation; I'm here to dominate and continue building something that lasts beyond belts. ESPN is where greatness is documented, and I'm ready to perform at that level. This fight is also a special crossover: Two Korean fighters on this kind of stage is something fans don't see often, and I'm proud to represent every part of who I am."

MVPW-03 is scheduled for May 30 in El Paso, Texas, featuring a rematch for Stephanie Han's WBA lightweight title against Holly Holm (34-3-3, 9 KOs). Their first encounter ended in a technical decision victory for Han after an accidental clash of heads concluded the fight prematurely in the seventh round. Han, the champion, declared her intent for the rematch: "This time in my city, there will be no excuses, no 'what ifs,' and no doubt who the better fighter is. I can't wait to showcase my abilities to millions of fans on ESPN." ESPN will serve as the exclusive U.S. broadcast home for MVPW through 2028, further solidifying the platform's reach.

Combat sports reporter Andreas Hale weighs in on the potential for Alycia Baumgardner to become the new face of women's boxing, affirming her capacity due to her charisma, youth, formidable skill set, and proven knockout power, exemplified by her 2021 stoppage of Terri Harper. He emphasizes her undisputed status at 130 pounds and her upcoming headlining performance on April 17 as key opportunities to solidify her superstar status. Hale notes that her opponent, Bo Mi Re Shin, previously gave WBC lightweight champion Caroline Dubois a challenging fight, indicating a tough test for Baumgardner.

ESPN's Nick Parkinson discusses the intriguing choice for the winner of the Caroline Dubois vs. Terri Harper bout. While unifying the lightweight division is a prestigious achievement, a potential fight against Alycia Baumgardner, who reigns at junior lightweight, is likely to be far more lucrative. Harper, having been stopped by Baumgardner in 2021, might prioritize revenge over another belt, requiring Baumgardner to move up a division. Parkinson highlights that Dubois's fight against Harper is the biggest of her career so far, with significant stakes for the lightweight division.

Hale also addresses the prospect of Shadasia Green facing Claressa Shields, deeming it the biggest potential matchup in women's boxing currently. He attributes this to the powerful promotional machine behind MVP, with the combined reach of ESPN and Netflix, which would propel a Shields-Green fight to unprecedented levels of exposure. Hale notes that Green's raw power provides a stark contrast to Shields's refined boxing ability, and her impressive comeback win against Savannah Marshall in July 2025 demonstrates her ongoing growth. He anticipates significant trash talk if Green first overcomes Lani Daniels on April 17, setting the stage for a challenge to Shields.

For Ellie Scotney, a victory over Mayelli Flores on April 5 holds historic significance. Parkinson suggests a win would not only help Scotney crack the top 10 in pound-for-pound rankings but also make her the youngest British undisputed champion, male or female. Scotney, already a unified WBC, IBF, and WBO champion, has demonstrated her prowess with strong wins in 2025 against Yamileth Mercado and Mea Motu.

The rematch between Holly Holm and Stephanie Han carries immense implications, particularly for Holm. Hale observes that Holm, at 44, is at the "tail end" of her combat sports career, making this a "now or never" moment for her championship aspirations. Holm, a 2022 International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee and former UFC champion, was notably losing on the scorecards in their first encounter before its premature end. Facing the younger, faster, and undefeated Han in her hometown of El Paso, Holm faces a significant challenge, and a second consecutive loss could potentially lead to her retirement. Conversely, a definitive victory for Han on ESPN would substantially boost her marketability and profile, opening up intriguing options for unifying the lightweight titles against other champions like Terri Harper, Caroline Dubois, and Elif Nur Turhan.

Regarding Chantelle Cameron, Parkinson delves into her pursuit of a trilogy fight against Katie Taylor. Cameron, who faces Michaela Kotaskova for a vacant WBO junior middleweight title on April 5, is the only fighter to have defeated Taylor in the professional ranks. While a trilogy with Taylor is likely the biggest possible fight, Cameron faces competition. Taylor, who seeks a final fight possibly at Dublin's Croke Park, has also been offered a bout against WBC, IBF, and WBA welterweight champion Lauren Price. Taylor might be swayed towards Price if Cameron is unwilling to drop down to welterweight or junior welterweight, complicating Cameron's path to a decisive third encounter.
