ESPN Announces Historic Paige Bueckers News During Final UConn Home Game
After five years with the UConn Huskies, senior guard Paige Bueckers played in her final game at their home arena, Gampel Pavilion, in Storrs, Connecticut.
On Monday, Bueckers and No. 2 seed UConn battled No. 10 seed South Dakota State Jackrabbits in the second round of the 2025 NCAA women's basketball tournament.
Bueckers had led the Huskies to a 31-3 record prior to the NCAA Tournament, earning a top-four seed. This allowed Bueckers to play two more games in front of her home crowd.
On the season, Bueckers has averaged 18.7 points, 4.8 assists and 1.3 turnovers per game. Her 4.8-1.3 assist-turnover ratio marks the best in all of women's college basketball.
Not only that, but Bueckers has also been extremely efficient from the floor. Prior to the second-round game, she was averaging 53.6% from the field, 40.4% from 3-point range and 89.9% from the free throw line.
However, Bueckers hit her first three free throws of Monday night's game, jumping her free throw efficiency to over 90%, putting her in the 50-40-90 club.
After making her first two free throws of the day, ESPN, which broadcast UConn vs. South Dakota State, revealed that Bueckers is the first basketball player (NBA, WNBA and CBB) to join the 50-40-90 club while leading the nation in assists-turnovers ratio.

The 50-40-90 club is one of the more exclusive lists in all of basketball. Even NBA superstars Michael Jordan and LeBron James couldn't make it. The only WNBA player to reach these numbers was Elena Delle Donne in 2019.
But Bueckers decided to one-up everybody and enter a league of her own as she looks to win her first NCAA championship of her career.
The winner of UConn vs SDSU will move on to the Sweet 16 to face No. 3 seed Oklahoma Sooners.
