Epic Marvel Universe Update: ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Wraps Filming as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Trailer Approaches

Marvel Studios has officially wrapped production on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, ending a grueling 128-day shoot primarily across the U.K. Filming, which began on August 1, 2025, saw Tom Holland engaging in high-octane action sequences in Glasgow, Scotland, and concluded on December 6. This wrap coincides with the imminent premiere of the Avengers: Doomsday trailer, scheduled to debut alongside Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 19, signaling a bold new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Spider-Man: Brand New Day explores a more isolated and adult chapter for Peter Parker. Tom Holland returns as Spider-Man, joined by Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, and Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson. Returning and new supporting characters include Michael Mando as Mac Gargan, Marvin Jones III as Tombstone, and roles for Tramell Tillman and Liza Colón-Zayas, alongside prominent Marvel figures such as Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher.
The official synopsis reveals Peter Parker navigating life after the world has seemingly forgotten his name. Balancing college, part-time work, and his Spider-Man responsibilities, he must confront a mysterious force unraveling New York City. Facing old legacies and new enemies, Peter is forced to redefine what it truly means to be a hero, relying on himself and discovering unexpected allies in the process.
Jon Bernthal, discussing his return as the Punisher, emphasized the importance of maintaining character continuity within the MCU. Speaking to ScreenRant, Bernthal stated, "I think what was really important… is that the Punisher could walk off of the Spider-Man set and could walk onto the Special set, and I do believe that we achieved that," underscoring Marvel's commitment to an interconnected cinematic narrative.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day wrapped and the Avengers: Doomsday trailer about to drop, Marvel fans are in for a thrilling summer. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to swing into theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026, promising an essential installment in the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe saga.
