Elton John to Electrify London's New Apple Music Hall with Surprise Opening Performance

Apple Music has announced the grand opening of its new state-of-the-art venue, Apple Music Hall, situated within London's iconic Battersea Power Station. This highly anticipated 600-capacity space is scheduled to launch on Monday, September 28, with a special performance by legendary artist Sir Elton John. Tickets for John's opening night show will be available for purchase on the same day at 9 a.m. U.K. time via the venue’s official website.

The inaugural season at Apple Music Hall promises an impressive lineup of diverse talent, including performances by Charli xcx, Burna Boy, Troye Sivan, Baby Keem, Skye Newman, Arlo Parks, and Chase & Status, all scheduled before the end of 2026. Sir Elton John's performance is particularly noteworthy as it marks his first public U.K. appearance in over three years, having wrapped his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour at Glastonbury Festival in June 2023. While he has performed sporadically since, most recently at Brazil's Rock in Rio festival on September 7, his return to a U.K. stage at this new venue is a significant event. Notably, John has a history with the Battersea Power Station, having performed a private concert there in 2014 to commemorate the building's residential and commercial redevelopment.

Apple Music Hall is meticulously designed to offer an unparalleled live music experience. The venue boasts a cutting-edge 48-speaker spatial audio system, ensuring an immersive sound for all attendees. Artists will benefit from a customizable 38-foot-wide stage, providing flexibility for diverse performances. Beyond the main performance area, the facility includes two dedicated recording and mix studios, and is hardwired for 16 or more cameras connected to a purpose-built broadcast control room. This extensive setup enables artists to capture a multitude of high-quality content from their shows, establishing it as a hub for both live performance and advanced production.

The opening of Apple Music Hall further solidifies Apple's presence at the Battersea location, where the tech giant officially opened its London headquarters in 2022. The revamped area also houses studios from which Apple Music Radio's London-based hosts broadcast. To facilitate bookings and promotion for the new venue, Apple has strategically partnered with UK promoter Communion ONE. Mazin Tappuni, a managing director at Communion ONE, expressed his enthusiasm, stating that Apple Music Hall is “a fantastic venue, like nothing fans will have ever seen before,” highlighting its world-class production quality and its ability to livestream to a global audience, all while keeping the artist and fan experience central to its design.
