The sister of Anton Green, a Manchester man originally from Whalley Range, has issued a deeply concerning update regarding the ongoing search for her brother who has gone missing in Colombia. Anton was last contacted by a friend in the South American country on August 6, 2026. Prior to that, his last communication with a family member was on August 5. His sister, Sian Tuohey, aged 40, conveyed the family's escalating distress, stating they have become "very anxious" as weeks have passed without contact. The family is now beginning to "imagine the worst" as the prolonged silence continues.

Sian shared with the Mirror on Thursday, September 24, that while it was initially easier to remain positive, the situation has now reached a critical point for both her and her mother, leading to sleepless nights. She expressed profound anxiety throughout the day, emphasizing the unknown circumstances of Anton's disappearance and the natural tendency to draw dire conclusions given the passage of time.

Anton Green, 43, known to be fluent in Spanish, decided to travel to South America after visiting several European locations. He spent time in Colombia and ultimately chose to settle on the outskirts of the capital, Bogota, having developed a fondness for the local way of life, culture, and the cost of living. His family indicates that he resided near Bogota, specifically in the Fontibon and Mesita Del Colegio areas. It was also noted that he had recently moved homes just weeks before he vanished.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Sian recounted the last known contacts: "One of his friends in Colombia thinks the last time he spoke to Anton was August 6. My dad spoke to him on August 5. It was a videocall, he seemed to be behaving normal." During this call, Anton mentioned he was potentially planning a brief trip to Ecuador, a detail the family is unsure about. Sian also highlighted Anton's past struggles with mental health, noting that he experienced significant difficulties around the same time last year, which has led the family to monitor his well-being closely for the past year, though it has been challenging.

In a heartfelt plea directed at her missing brother, Sian urged, "Get in touch with his mum or dad. We're extremely, extremely worried." She added, "I know he doesn't have his own children, but he's got his nieces and siblings and we're worried. I don't fancy losing my brother in another part of the world." Anton is described as dark skinned, with short afro hair, and stands at 5 ft 6.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has confirmed its involvement, with a spokesperson stating, "We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Colombia and are in touch with local authorities." This official support offers a glimmer of hope amidst the family's profound concern.
