Dodgers Dave Roberts Gives Update on Injured Pitcher Evan Phillips
When speaking of the Los Angeles Dodgers, it's typically about all the stars the team has on the roster, and rightfully so.
The Dodgers might have more star power than any team in Major League Baseball history, but there are more reasons than that for their success.

One of them is what the under-the-radar type of players do, and Evan Phillips, who recently went down with right forearm discomfort, is one of them.
Phillips, who threw 5.2 innings of work before going down, posted a 0.00 ERA and struck out six hitters. He's been excellent for the Dodgers in the middle of their bullpen over the past few years, posting a 2.05 ERA in 2023 in 61.1 Innings.
Regarding his injury, while concerning due to some of the other injuries the Dodgers have been dealing with, it doesn't sound like it's too bad, and if he could’ve pitched on Thursday, he would’ve.

“Could he have pitched today? Absolutely,” manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday, per Dodgers Nation. “No one knows how he would feel responding going forward. So I think for us, it just made the most sense to IL him. Our expectation is on that 16th day, he’ll be back active. It’s just more of a precaution.”

The Dodgers don't have much of a reason to worry too much about the regular season.
Yes, they want to win the National League West, but the end goal has to be winning a World Series for this organization.
If Phillips has to miss a week or two, or even longer, it's what has to be done.
October is the primary goal, and Roberts understands that.
