Director Anees Bazmee Addresses Diljit Dosanjh's Exit from 'No Entry 2'

Director Anees Bazmee has addressed the recent reports concerning the departure of actor Diljit Dosanjh from the highly anticipated sequel, 'No Entry 2'. While speculation had been rife, with some suggesting creative differences, producer Boney Kapoor had previously clarified that Dosanjh's exit was primarily due to scheduling conflicts. Bazmee, echoing a sentiment of pragmatism, has now shared his perspective on the casting changes and his overall focus on bringing the film to fruition.

Speaking about the situation, Bazmee emphasized that his paramount feeling is joy that the film is finally moving forward after a long wait. "I’m just happy that the film is getting made. There’s no bigger joy than that," he stated, adding a philosophical note, "At this point, woh hi ho raha hai jo upar waala chahta hai (Whatever is happening is the will of God)." He maintained that he is not upset by Diljit's departure and is taking the development in stride, focusing on the positive momentum of the project.

Reflecting on his extensive career, Bazmee acknowledged that filmmaking often involves navigating unforeseen casting changes. "It’s not like I’ve only worked with actors who’ve been my first choices on the films I’ve done so far," he shared. "I’ve had to work with actors who were my second and even third choices. But once these films got released, audiences felt that those actors fit the characters perfectly and nobody else could’ve pulled off those parts the way they did." This experience has taught him that the initial ideal casting doesn't always materialize, but the final outcome can still be successful and well-received.

The director also touched upon the intense media scrutiny that accompanies large-scale film projects like 'No Entry 2'. "Since it’s a big film, everything that happens makes news. I’m used to these things and I don’t let such things bother me," Bazmee remarked. He further asserted his stance on not engaging in constant explanations, saying, "Main kabhi safaiyaan nahi deta. Jo hona hai, woh hi hoga aur jo hoga, achcha hi hoga (I never explain myself. Whatever happens will happen, and it will be for the best)."

Despite the scheduling issues leading to Diljit's exit, Anees Bazmee spoke highly of the actor-singer. He described Diljit as a "very honest human being and a very talented actor," appreciating his simplicity. Bazmee recounted their initial meeting for the script narration, where Diljit, a fan of the original 'No Entry', readily agreed to be part of the sequel almost immediately after hearing the basic premise. Diljit reportedly said, "Comedy hai, teen heroes hai, No Entry dekh ke hum kitne hasse hai," and expressed his trust in Bazmee’s vision without needing a full narration.

Bazmee also shared details of their last interaction, which was their second meeting. "Our last meeting, which was the second time that we met, lasted for 10 minutes. We were discussing his dates because there was a bit of back and forth. He told me that he’s trying to work out his dates. Boney ji was also there," he recalled. Bazmee added that he understood Diljit's situation regarding the scheduling conflicts, emphasizing that there was mutual respect.

'No Entry 2', produced by Boney Kapoor, is set to be a comedy entertainer featuring three male leads. Reports indicate that Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor have been confirmed for two of these roles. The search for the third lead actor and the leading ladies is reportedly ongoing. With these casting developments, Anees Bazmee is now focused on getting the film on floors soon, eager to deliver the sequel to the 2005 hit comedy.
