Diddy's Fate Sealed: Superstar Rapper's Prison Release Date Revealed as 2028!

Sean “Diddy” Combs, the acclaimed rapper and entrepreneur, is slated for release from prison on May 8, 2028, according to official information from the Bureau of Prisons website. Combs, aged 55, is currently incarcerated at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) but could potentially be transferred to another facility to complete his sentence.

His legal troubles began in September 2024 when he was arrested and charged with transportation to engage in prostitution, sex trafficking, and racketeering conspiracy. Despite consistently pleading not guilty to all charges and denying any wrongdoing, a jury found him guilty on two counts of transportation on July 2, 2025. He was, however, acquitted of the other charges brought against him.

Three months later, on October 3, 2025, Judge Arun Subramanian handed down a sentence of 50 months in prison, which is slightly over four years. The time Combs has already served at MDC will be credited toward this sentence. In addition to the prison term, the judge imposed a $500,000 fine and mandated five years of supervised release to commence after his time behind bars.

In the period leading up to his sentencing, Diddy’s legal team actively sought a more lenient outcome, specifically requesting a 14-month prison term followed by supervised release that would include mandatory drug treatment, individual therapy, and group therapy. His lawyers argued that Combs had “been adequately punished by serving 13 months in the terrible conditions” at MDC. They detailed these conditions as involving constant suicide watch with security checks every two hours, even during sleep, along with limited access to clean water and a scarcity of healthy or edible food.

Adding another layer to the legal proceedings, Diddy’s attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, recently filed a notice of appeal. This action signals the legal team’s intent to challenge both the conviction and the sentence. Although the appeal notice did not specify the exact grounds, his lawyers have previously contended that the Mann Act, the statute under which Combs was charged, should not be applicable to his case.

Further complicating Diddy’s incarceration experience, his longtime friend Charlucci Finney reported a harrowing incident. On October 22, Finney informed the Daily Mail that Combs “woke up with a knife to his throat.” Finney speculated that the attack might have been an attempt to intimidate Combs rather than cause severe harm, noting, “If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed. It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him.”
