Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa announced this during an operational visit to the Headquarters of Joint Task Force (JTF) North-East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in Maiduguri on May 15, 2025.

Musa urged troops to remain aggressive, stating, “Nigerians are counting on the military as its last hope in defending and protecting the territorial integrity of the country.”

He commended their bravery amid a resurgence of terrorist attacks, encouraging unrelenting action. After a briefing from Theatre Commander Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Musa assured troops their sacrifices would not be in vain.

The CDS also visited the site of a recent explosion at Giwa Barracks, Maiduguri, where Brigadier General Abdul-Razak Kazeem, Commander of the 47 Engineers Brigade, provided details. Musa praised the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team’s swift response and pledged ongoing support. Abubakar thanked Musa, noting the visit underscored the priority given to Operation Hadin Kai.
