Defenders Assemble! Krysten Ritter Joins Luke Cage & Iron Fist on 'Daredevil: Born Again' Set

A highly anticipated reunion appears to be on the horizon as Mike Colter, Finn Jones, and Krysten Ritter, stars of their respective Marvel streaming series, have been photographed together on the set of “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 3. Their presence strongly suggests a “Defenders” cast reunion is being planned for the upcoming season of the popular Disney+ show.

Each of these actors led their own Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) streaming series in the mid-to-late 2010s. Krysten Ritter first debuted as Jessica Jones with her series in 2015, which ran for three seasons, making it the longest-running among the three. Mike Colter followed with his series, “Luke Cage,” in 2016, which completed two seasons. Finn Jones then introduced his character, Iron Fist, in 2017, with his show also running for two seasons. All three original series were initially released on Netflix before finding a new home on Disney+.

These individual heroes—Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—were famously teamed up with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil in the 2017 Netflix mini-series “The Defenders.” In this crossover event, the four heroes combined their unique abilities to combat the enigmatic mercenary cult known as The Hand. Like their standalone shows, “The Defenders” has also migrated from Netflix to Disney+.

The original “Daredevil” series, which introduced Charlie Cox’s blind, crime-fighting lawyer, first premiered in 2015 and ran for three successful seasons on Netflix until 2018. Disney subsequently revived the beloved character for “Daredevil: Born Again,” with Season 1 launching on Disney+ in March 2025. Season 2 of the revived series is currently available for streaming, with new episodes released weekly.

While “Daredevil: Born Again” seems to be orchestrating a significant television team-up, showrunner Dario Scardapane has clarified the scope of its interconnectedness. In an interview with SFX Magazine, Scardapane indicated that he does not foresee any crossovers with Marvel’s film heroes. He stated, “The joke we make is, ‘Oh, those guys are uptown – we’re downtown!’ We kind of have a pocket that’s in this world of Hell’s Kitchen, in this world of New York.” He further elaborated, “I always think that maybe these characters take little vacations into the larger world, but the story that we’re focusing on is really granular.”
