Day temperature slightly lower, but rain unlikely in next 7 days | Delhi News - The Times of India
New Delhi: The
day temperature
dipped slightly due to overcast skies on Friday. Rain is unlikely in the next seven days.
The India Meteorological Department said the
maximum temperature
on Friday was 26.6 degrees Celsius, a degree above normal. It was 27.4 degrees Celsius a day earlier. "Under the influence of a western disturbance, several areas recorded very light rainfall on Thursday. Though no rain was reported on Friday, partly cloudy skies were seen during the daytime, leading to a marginal drop in maximum temperature," said a Met official.
The official added that since the impact of a western disturbance would be over, the maximum temperature is predicted to show a slight rise.
The minimum temperature on Friday settled at 12.3 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal, compared to 15 degrees a day earlier.
The IMD has predicted that the maximum temperature is likely to stay in the range of 27-29 degrees Celsius over the weekend. It may touch 28-30 degrees Celsius on Feb 24 and 25.
The air quality in the capital remained in the moderate range, but it is predicted to worsen on Saturday. The AQI was 158 on Friday.
According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, Delhi's air quality is likely to deteriorate to poor on Saturday. "The AQI is expected to stay in the poor category from Feb 22- 24.," it said .
